Dr. Minwoo Lee, Leader of Data Analytics and Service Innovation Lab (DASIL), is a widely recognized author of more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, book, book chapters and trade articles in hospitality, tourism and information systems. He currently is a Director of Hospitality Analytics and Innovation Lab and Associate Professor at the prestigious Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership at the University of Houston.
Dr. Lee taught at the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Korea Aerospace University. Over the course of Dr. Lee’s academic career, he received several awards and recognition as a recipient of Donald Greenaway Excellence Award in 2023, Stephen Rushmore/HVS Faculty Research Award in 2021, Provost’s 50-in-5 Research Award for Faculty in 2019 and 2020, and New Faculty Research Award in 2017 at UH; a recipient of 2024 APacCHRIE’s Best Paper Award and Best Youth Paper Award, 2022 ICHRIE’s Research Award, JHTT Paper of the Year Award from International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism in 2022, Literati Outstanding Reviewer Award in 2021, Best Paper Awards at the Annual Graduate Education & Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality & Tourism in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, Best Paper Award (1st place) at the Korea America Hospitality & Tourism Educators Conference in 2017 and Best Paper Award at the Asia Pacific Management Conference in 2015; recipient of Minister’s Grand Prize (1st place) from the Ministry of Information and Communication, South Korea
He currently serves as an editorial board member for leading hospitality and tourism journals such as the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management (Assistant Editor and Special Issue Co-Editor), International Journal of Hospitality Management (Coordinating Editor), Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology (Associate Editor), Journal of Smart Tourism (Associate Editor), Tourism Economics (Editorial Board Member and Special Issue Co-Editor), and Journal of Hospitality Marketing & Management (Editorial Board Member). Applying his knowledge and expertise in business analytics and information technologies, Dr. Lee worked as a consultant and research associate for several prominent multinational hotel chains and global organizations such as Accor Hotels, Hilton, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Hospitality Finance and Technology Professionals (HFTP), and France Telecom.
He currently teaches several courses both at an undergraduate and graduate level including Hospitality Business Analytics & Communication, Hospitality Metrics and Data Analytics, Innovative Technologies in hospitality, Hospitality Technology, and Social Media Marketing while serving as the dissertation chair for Ph.D. and Master students and faculty advisor for Smith Travel Research Student Market Study Competition teams.
